Surge Arrestors
Surge arrestors help prevent damage from voltage spikes in electrical devices. Anatech manufactures RF surge arrestors for operation from DC to 6 GHz. Technologies include gas-type arrestors that employ a gas trapped between two electrodes that is ionized by the high voltage to conduct electrical current. They provide a short circuit to ground when triggered and are employed on high-frequency lines because of their very low capacitance. Quarter-wave coaxial arrestors are quarter-wave short circuit stubs that allow signals to pass through a particular band of frequencies but will short-circuit all other signals to ground. They are often used in IEEE 802.11a/b/g WiFi as well as other wireless communications systems.
